Our Curriculum
At Farmyard Friends Day Nursery our curriculum is centred around the Early Years Foundation Stage framework which sets out seven areas of learning. Imbedded within our curriculum are the fundamental British values, characteristics of effective learning and cultural capital. Our statement of intent and mission statement set out further details of our vision for all children attending Farmyard Friends.
Much of our curriculum is based on our surroundings and nature but does not limit what children will experience and achieve during their time at Farmyard Friends, it does however set out specific areas which we would like children to have had a range of authentic, rich, first-hand experiences in where they can develop skills to achieve their individual potential. We are very fortunate to have the farms and beach on our doorstep, which provide a fantastic basis to nurture children’s natural curiosity and allow them to develop hands on experiences and in-depth knowledge.
Our highly inclusive environment and experienced practitioners allow children to develop at their own pace. Our curriculum is flexible and will be adapted to suit individual needs whether that be providing further challenge or targeted interactions, all children will be able to access the curriculum in a way most suited to them.
Farmyard Friends recognises the benefits of working in partnership with parents to support children both at home and in the setting to ensure the best outcomes. We value and celebrate all the families that come through our setting and get to know them through our open-door policy. Working in partnership with parents enables us to share the most recent information such as significant events, changes in routines and behaviour and provide reassurance where needed. Positive relationships with parents and high levels of engagement allows us to be flexible and adapt to support children to transform their life chances.
